About Schedappy
Schedappy (\sked-appy\) n. - the most user-friendly staff scheduling software available; an economical full-featured employee scheduling tool for restaurants, retail stores and other organizations; a compound word formed from the words "schedule" and "happy" or "schedule" and "snappy," because you'll be happy when your scheduling woes become a snap.
Schedappy came into existence when founder Tom Rupsis was helping a client review staff scheduling tools. They found the marketplace cluttered with inefficient programs which they classified in two ways: "overly complex" and "underwhelming." Plus, they all lacked an ease of use for the end user.
The overly complex programs offered to do everything but ended up really doing nothing, at least not well. It was a case of over-promising and under-delivering. And in the end, those programs ended up costing more and requiring more time to learn and use.
The underwhelming programs offered nothing more than a glorified spreadsheet. The amount of hands-on scheduling time with these programs is nearly the same as with paper scheduling. Additionally, the programs are not internet accessible; as such, they could only be used in the office. The underwhelming programs lack both convenience and functionality.
So although that original client decided to stick with a paper schedule for the time being, Tom knew a need when he saw it. He worked to create an application that would fill that void in the scheduling software marketplace. Schedappy was born!
